‘Pink Ayoba’ is a fantastic floribunda rose, part of the ‘Ayoba’ series bred by Kordes in Germany, specifically for its resilience and low maintenance. It’s a tough, bushy plant that produces an abundance of semi-double, deep pink flowers in clusters. The blooms have a striking, unfading colour that stands out in the garden. One of its most significant features is its superior disease resistance and heat tolerance, which makes it a great choice for Australian climates. It was awarded a Silver Medal at the 2017 National Rose Trial Garden Awards of Australia, a testament to its excellent performance.

Usage This rose is perfect for mass planting to create a continuous display of colour in garden beds. Its compact and bushy habit also makes it an excellent choice for low hedges or borders. Given its toughness, it’s a great option for landscapers and for high-impact planting in public spaces. ‘Pink Ayoba’ also performs exceptionally well in pots and containers, allowing you to add a vibrant and easy-care feature to patios, balconies, or courtyards. The long-lasting blooms are attractive to bees and can be used as cut flowers, although they have a very light to no fragrance.

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Plant in a position with full sun (at least six hours per day) to ensure the best flowering performance and overall health.
  • Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil. It is adaptable to a range of soil types, but for best results, enrich the soil with organic matter before planting.
  • Watering: Water deeply and regularly during its first year to help it establish. Once mature, it is quite heat and drought-tolerant, but will perform best with consistent moisture during hot, dry spells.
  • Fertilising: A light application of a slow-release fertiliser in early spring is generally sufficient. Regular feeding with a liquid fertiliser during the growing season will encourage more frequent and abundant blooms.
  • Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the bush and remove any old or dead wood. Regular light trimming throughout the flowering season will encourage a continuous flush of new flowers.
  • Pests & Diseases: ‘Pink Ayoba’ is highly disease-resistant, particularly to black spot and powdery mildew. This makes it an ideal choice for gardeners who prefer a low-spray, low-maintenance rose.
