Duranta Sheena’s Gold is one of the most popular hedging plants in Australia due to its striking chartreuse to gold leaves that remain vibrant year-round. While it can reach heights of 3 metres and widths of 2 metres if left unpruned, it is most commonly maintained as a tight, formal hedge at around 1 to 1.5 metres. The foliage colour is at its most intense when the plant is grown in full sun; in shadier spots, the leaves tend to revert to a lime-green.
In summer, it produces small, dainty clusters of blue or lavender flowers, which are often followed by ornamental orange berries. However, regular hedging usually removes these before they develop.
