Ficus elastica ‘Burgundy’, commonly known as the Burgundy Rubber Tree, is a highly popular and architecturally striking houseplant. It is prized for its large, thick, leathery, and intensely glossy leaves that emerge in a brilliant reddish-pink sheath and unfurl to a deep, rich burgundy or almost black-red colour. The vibrant red colouration is strongest in the stems and on the underside of the leaves. Growing into an upright, elegant tree form, the ‘Burgundy’ variety is generally easier to care for and more adaptable than many other large Ficus species, making it an excellent choice for adding a bold, vertical feature to any bright room.
Care Tips:

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. The rich burgundy colour is best maintained with good light; low light conditions may cause the leaves to revert to a less intense, dark green. Protect it from direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Watering: Allow the top 5-7 cm of the soil to dry out completely before watering thoroughly. Overwatering is the most common issue, leading to root rot and leaf drop. Reduce watering significantly in winter.
