Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Superba’ is a popular and very hardy cultivar of the Snake Plant, distinguished by its compact, low-growing form. Unlike the tall, upright ‘Laurentii’ variety, ‘Superba’ features shorter, wider, and more rigid leaves that grow outwards in a dense, spreading rosette, rarely exceeding 30–40 cm in height. The leaves are typically a mottled mix of green with bright, prominent golden-yellow margins. This structural plant is an excellent choice for tabletops, windowsills, or as part of a succulent garden. It offers the same legendary toughness, air-purifying qualities, and drought-tolerance as other Sansevierias.

Light: Extremely adaptable. It will tolerate low light but thrives in bright, indirect light. Better light exposure encourages the brightest yellow edging.

Watering: Water sparingly. As a succulent, it is highly prone to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. When in doubt, always wait another week before watering.

Soil: Use a very fast-draining potting mix, such as a succulent or cactus blend. Ensure the pot has large, functional drainage holes.

Fertilising: Minimal feeding is necessary. If you choose to feed, use a half-strength, balanced liquid fertiliser once or twice during the warmer months.

Maintenance: This is a very low-maintenance plant. It will slowly produce new pups (offsets) around the base, which can be left to form a dense clump or separated to propagate new plants.

Toxicity: Note that all parts of this plant are mildly toxic if ingested, so keep it away from pets and children.
