Hylocereus Scotts Purple (Dragon Fruit)

• Scott's Purple Dragon Fruit originates from Central and South American rainforest canopies, naturally climbing trees for support. This variety was specially selected for its purple-tinted stems and superior fruit quality.
• Produces magnificent white flowers up to 30cm across that bloom at night and are pollinated by bats and moths in nature. The flowers are incredibly fragrant and create a spectacular display during the flowering season.
• Vigorous climbing cactus that can reach 3-6 metres in ideal conditions, making it perfect for covering unsightly walls or fences. The segmented, triangular stems store water and nutrients for drought tolerance.
• Beloved by gardeners for its dual purpose as both ornamental plant and fruit producer - fresh dragon fruit can be worth $8-15 per kilo. Young plants typically begin fruiting within 2-3 years when properly established.

• Water thoroughly when soil completely dries out - every 1-2 weeks in summer, monthly in winter depending on temperature and humidity. Always check soil moisture first as overwatering causes fatal root rot.
• Position in bright, filtered light with morning sun and afternoon shade protection - too much direct sun causes stem burn. Indoor plants need the brightest available spot, ideally near an east-facing window.
• Use well-draining cactus mix or add coarse sand and perlite to regular potting soil - drainage is absolutely critical. Ensure containers have multiple large drainage holes.
• Feed monthly during growing season (September to March) with diluted liquid fertiliser or slow-release cactus fertiliser. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers which encourage soft growth.
