‘Perfume Perfection’ is a highly acclaimed floribunda rose, renowned for its exquisite blooms and intoxicating perfume. This variety has received multiple awards around the world, including the first Gold Medal from the National Rose Trial Garden of Australia in 2001, a testament to its exceptional performance and adaptability to Australian conditions. The flowers are a beautiful, soft lavender-pink, often appearing in clusters of five to seven blooms per stem. The form of the flower is high-centred and classic, but its most prized feature is its intense and sweet fragrance, which is a true delight.

Usage This rose is a superb choice for adding both visual beauty and a powerful fragrance to your garden. Its bushier, more compact growth habit makes it perfect for mass planting in a dedicated rose bed, or for creating a lovely border. It can also be successfully grown in large pots and containers, allowing you to place its fragrant blooms on a patio or balcony. As the flowers are produced on medium-length stems, they are also a great option for cutting and bringing indoors to a vase.

Care Tips

  • Sunlight: Plant in a spot that receives at least six hours of direct sunlight per day. Adequate sun is crucial for producing a profusion of blooms and maintaining a healthy plant.
  • Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil. Before planting, enrich the soil with organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure.
  • Watering: Water deeply and regularly, especially during the dry summer months, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid watering the foliage to minimise the risk of fungal diseases.
  • Fertilising: To encourage its continuous flowering, feed ‘Perfume Perfection’ regularly throughout the growing season (spring to autumn) with a fertiliser specifically formulated for roses.
  • Pruning: Prune in late winter or early spring to shape the bush and remove any old or dead wood. As a floribunda, it is beneficial to trim the bush by about one-third after each flush of flowers to encourage prolific re-blooming.
  • Pests & Diseases: This rose is celebrated for its excellent disease resistance, but it’s still a good idea to monitor for common rose pests like aphids and scale, particularly on new growth.
