Agave Blue Glow

• Native to Mexico, this hybrid agave displays distinctive blue-grey leaves with striking red edges that glow when backlit. The compact rosette form makes it ideal for smaller spaces.
• Grows slowly to form a neat, symmetrical rosette reaching 60cm wide and 45cm tall. The architectural form provides year-round structure and interest.
• Extremely drought-tolerant once established, requiring minimal maintenance and water. Perfect for water-wise Australian gardens and xerophytic landscaping.
• Eventually produces a spectacular tall flower spike before the main plant dies, leaving offset pups to continue the cycle.

• Water deeply once every 2-3 weeks in summer, monthly in winter, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. Check soil moisture at 5cm depth before watering.
• Position in full sun to partial shade with at least 6 hours of bright light daily. Morning sun with afternoon protection works well in extreme heat.
• Plant in well-draining, sandy soil or cactus potting mix with added perlite. Ensure drainage holes in containers to prevent waterlogging.
• Feed with diluted low-nitrogen fertiliser once in spring and summer. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers which promote soft, weak growth.
• Remove only damaged or dead leaves at the base using clean, sharp tools. Never cut into healthy tissue.
• Requires low humidity and good air circulation. Avoid humid, enclosed spaces which encourage fungal problems.
• Reduce watering significantly in winter when growth slows. Protect from frost and excessive winter rainfall.

• Provide full sun to partial shade, with morning sun being ideal in hot Australian climates. At least 6 hours of bright light ensures vibrant colouration.

• Tolerates temperatures from -1°C to 40°C, making it suitable for most Australian climate zones. Protect from frost in cooler regions.

• Overwatering causes root rot and soft, mushy leaves. Ensure excellent drainage and allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
• Scale insects and mealybugs may attack during humid conditions. Treat with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap applications.
• Crown rot occurs in poorly ventilated, damp conditions. Improve air circulation and avoid watering the centre rosette.
• Leaf burn happens in extreme heat without acclimatisation. Gradually introduce to intense sunlight over several weeks.
