Pyrus Cleveland Select

• Cleveland Select is a selected cultivar of Callery Pear bred for superior form and disease resistance. Originally developed in the United States for urban landscaping applications.
• Features a distinctive narrow pyramidal to columnar growth habit reaching 8-12 metres tall but only 4-6 metres wide. Maintains excellent structure without extensive pruning requirements.
• Produces masses of white spring flowers before leaf emergence creating spectacular seasonal display. Flowers are followed by small inedible fruits that wildlife enjoys.
• Renowned for outstanding autumn foliage colours ranging from orange to deep red and purple. One of the most reliable trees for consistent autumn display in Australian conditions.

• Water deeply once weekly during first year, then reduce to fortnightly in summer months. Allow soil surface to dry between waterings to prevent root rot.
• Position in full sun location with at least 6 hours direct sunlight daily. Morning sun is essential for healthy growth and disease prevention.
• Plant in well-draining soil enriched with compost and aged manure. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged sites that cause root problems.
• Apply balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring and again in summer. Supplement with liquid fertiliser monthly during active growing season.
• Prune lightly in late winter to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Avoid heavy pruning which stimulates unwanted water shoots.
• Mulch around base with organic matter to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Keep mulch away from trunk to prevent pest harbourage.

• Provide full sun exposure for best flowering and autumn colour development. Tolerates light shade but may reduce bloom intensity and growth rate.
