Winter Plants
Sydney winters are mild enough for the garden to keep performing — if you have the right plants. Our winter plants collection is curated specifically for the season: varieties that flower, establish, and look their best through June, July, and August when the rest of the garden has gone quiet.
Camellias are the backbone of the winter garden — their peak flowering season runs May through August and they perform beautifully in Sydney's mild winters. Winter-flowering Grevillea varieties provide colour and native bird activity through the coldest months. Cool-season annuals including Pansies, Violas, Polyanthus, and Primula fill beds and pots with cheerful colour from May onwards. For structure, bare-rooted roses planted in winter establish strongly and flower prolifically in their first spring — winter is actually the best time to plant roses in Sydney.
Every variety in this collection has been assessed for Sydney's winter conditions — including frost tolerance for Hills District and western Sydney properties that experience overnight frosts from June to August. Shop online, delivered from $9.99, or visit us in Annangrove to see the current winter range in person.
