Agave Attenuata

• Native to Mexico, Agave Attenuata is known as the 'Foxtail Agave' for its distinctive curved flower spike. It's one of the few spineless agaves.
• Forms a single rosette that can reach 1.2 meters wide with soft, flexible leaves that won't injure people or pets. The trunk develops with age.
• Produces dramatic arching flower spikes up to 3 meters tall covered in small greenish-white flowers. Blooming typically occurs after 8-15 years.
• Loved for its sculptural form and low maintenance requirements. Perfect for modern landscapes and xerophytic garden designs.
• Offsets readily from the base, creating new plants that can be separated and replanted to expand your collection.

• Water every 2-3 weeks in growing season, monthly in winter. Check soil is completely dry before watering again.
• Position in bright, filtered light indoors or morning sun with afternoon protection outdoors. Avoid harsh midday sun.
• Use cactus and succulent potting mix or add sand and perlite to regular potting mix for drainage.
• Feed with diluted liquid fertiliser monthly during spring and summer. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilisers.
• Remove dead or damaged leaves by cutting cleanly at the base. Wear gloves to protect hands from sap.
• Maintain low humidity and good air circulation. Avoid misting or watering foliage directly.
• Protect from frost and temperatures below 5°C. Move potted plants indoors in winter if necessary.

• Provide bright, indirect light indoors or morning sun with afternoon shade outdoors. Too much direct sun can scorch leaves.
• Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter months.
• Plant in well-draining soil or potting mix designed for succulents. Add perlite or sand to improve drainage if needed.
• Maintain temperatures between 18-25°C for optimal growth. Protect from frost in cooler regions.
• Remove spent flower stalks after blooming to encourage continued growth and prevent plant energy depletion.

• Overwatering causes root rot and yellowing leaves. Allow soil to dry completely between waterings and ensure excellent drainage.
• Mealybugs appear as white cottony masses on leaves. Wipe off with rubbing alcohol or spray with insecticidal soap.
• Scale insects create brown bumps on foliage. Scrape off manually or treat with horticultural oil spray.
• Fungal issues develop in humid conditions. Improve air circulation and avoid watering leaves directly.
• Sunburn causes brown patches on leaves when suddenly moved to bright locations. Gradually acclimate to increased light levels.
