Agave Americana 'Mediopicta Alba'

• Native to Mexico and the southern United States, this variegated cultivar has been selected for its spectacular white central stripe. The species name 'Americana' reflects its New World origins.
• Forms a dramatic rosette of thick, fleshy leaves with sharp terminal spines and serrated edges. The creamy white central band contrasts beautifully against blue-green outer leaf margins.
• Grows slowly to medium-sized proportions, typically reaching 1-1.5 metres tall and wide. This makes it more manageable than the standard green Agave americana in home gardens.
• Monocarpic, meaning it flowers once then dies, but this typically occurs after 10-20 years. The plant produces offsets (pups) around the base that can be separated to propagate new plants.
• Loved for its architectural form, striking variegation, and ultra-low maintenance requirements. It's a cornerstone plant for modern, water-wise Australian gardens.

• Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. In Australian summers, every 2-3 weeks is typically sufficient, reducing to monthly in cooler months.
• Position in full sun for best colour and compact growth. Morning sun with some afternoon shade is acceptable in extremely hot inland areas.
