Frangipani Assorted

• Originally from Central America and the Caribbean, frangipanis have become iconic tropical plants beloved across Australia's warmer regions. The assorted varieties offer diverse flower colours and forms.
• Known botanically as Plumeria, these deciduous trees can reach 3-8 metres tall with thick succulent-like branches and large paddle-shaped leaves. They naturally shed leaves in cooler months.
• The intensely fragrant flowers bloom from spring through autumn, with each bloom lasting several days and new flowers continuously appearing. The waxy petals feel almost artificial to touch.
• Frangipanis are surprisingly low-maintenance once established, tolerating drought, salt air, and poor soils while producing abundant blooms year after year.

• Water weekly during growing season, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings and reducing to monthly in winter. Deep soaking is better than frequent light watering.
• Position in full sun location with at least 6 hours direct sunlight daily for optimal flowering and growth. Some afternoon shade acceptable in extremely hot climates.
• Plant in well-draining sandy loam or add coarse sand and organic matter to heavy clay soils. Excellent drainage is absolutely critical for healthy root development.
• Feed monthly during spring and summer with balanced fertiliser, switching to low-nitrogen high-potassium fertiliser in autumn. Avoid feeding during winter dormancy period.
• Prune lightly in late winter to shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Always wear gloves as the milky sap can cause skin irritation.
• Maintain good air circulation around plants and avoid overhead watering to prevent fungal issues during humid Australian summers.

• Provide full sun for at least 6 hours daily to encourage abundant flowering and healthy growth. Morning sun with some afternoon protection works well in extremely hot climates.
• Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry between waterings as frangipanis prefer drier conditions. Reduce watering significantly during winter dormancy period.
• Plant in well-draining soil with good organic content and ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot. Sandy loam or cactus mix works perfectly.
• Protect from frost and cold winds as frangipanis are tropical plants that may lose leaves in cooler weather. Bring potted specimens indoors during winter in cooler regions.

• Scale insects can attach to stems and leaves, causing yellowing and sticky honeydew secretions. Treat with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap applied weekly until cleared.
• Root rot occurs from overwatering or poor drainage, causing soft black roots and stem base. Improve drainage immediately and reduce watering frequency.
• Fungal leaf spot appears as brown or black spots on foliage during humid conditions. Remove affected leaves and improve air circulation around the plant.
• Spider mites may infest during hot dry periods, causing fine webbing and stippled leaves. Increase humidity and spray with miticide if severe.
