Guava Amman

• Native to tropical regions, Guava Amman is prized for its sweet, aromatic fruits and ornamental white flowers. The evergreen foliage provides year-round garden structure.
• Compact growth habit makes it perfect for container growing or small gardens. Mature plants typically reach 2-3 metres in ideal conditions.
• Self-pollinating variety means you only need one plant to produce fruit. Bees and other pollinators are attracted to the fragrant blooms.
• Fruits are rich in vitamin C and can be eaten fresh or used in jams, jellies, and desserts.

• Water deeply when top soil layer dries out, typically every 3-5 days in summer and weekly in winter. Check soil moisture with your finger before watering.
• Position in bright, filtered light with protection from harsh afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade provides ideal growing conditions.
• Plant in well-draining, slightly acidic soil with pH 6.0-6.5. Add compost or aged manure to improve soil structure and fertility.
• Feed monthly with balanced fruit tree fertiliser from spring to autumn. Reduce feeding in winter when plant growth naturally slows.
• Prune lightly after harvest to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Light pruning encourages new growth and better air circulation.
• Maintain humidity around potted plants by grouping with other plants or using a pebble tray filled with water.

• Provide bright, filtered sunlight or morning sun with afternoon shade in hot climates. At least 6 hours of daily light ensures healthy growth and fruiting.
• Water deeply when top 2-3cm of soil feels dry, reducing frequency in winter months. Maintain consistent moisture during flowering and fruit development.
• Plant in well-draining, slightly acidic soil enriched with compost or aged manure. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
• Feed monthly during growing season with balanced fruit tree fertiliser. Reduce feeding in winter when growth slows naturally.

• Fruit fly can damage developing fruits - use exclusion bags or traps during fruiting season. Remove fallen fruit immediately to break pest cycles.
• Scale insects may appear on leaves and stems - treat with horticultural oil spray or wipe affected areas with rubbing alcohol.
• Overwatering causes root rot and yellowing leaves - ensure excellent drainage and allow soil to dry between waterings.
• Fungal leaf spot develops in humid conditions - improve air circulation and avoid overhead watering.
