Ligularia Dentata Reniformis (Tractor Seat Plant)

• Native to China and Japan where it grows naturally in moist woodland conditions and stream banks. Introduced to Western gardens for its dramatic architectural foliage.
• The distinctive kidney-shaped leaves give this plant its common name as they resemble old-fashioned tractor seats. Leaves can grow up to 30cm across in ideal conditions.
• Produces tall spikes of bright yellow daisy flowers in summer that attract butterflies and beneficial insects. The contrast between bold foliage and delicate flowers is spectacular.
• Beloved by gardeners for creating instant tropical ambiance in temperate gardens and providing reliable performance in challenging shady spots.

• Water 2-3 times weekly during active growth, keeping soil consistently moist but not soggy. Check soil moisture by inserting finger 5cm deep.
• Position in filtered morning sunlight with protection from hot afternoon sun and strong winds. Dappled shade under trees is ideal.
• Plant in rich, organic, well-draining soil amended with compost and aged manure. Mulch heavily to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
• Feed monthly during spring and summer with balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength. Avoid high nitrogen which promotes soft growth.
