Lime Tahitian

• Originally developed in California from Tahitian stock, this lime variety is prized by commercial growers for its reliable fruit production. The seedless fruit stores longer than other lime varieties.
• Trees reach 3-4 metres tall with glossy evergreen foliage and fragrant white flowers that bloom multiple times yearly. The thornless branches make harvesting safer.
• Gardeners love this variety because it fruits year-round in warm climates and produces larger, juicier limes than Mexican varieties. Each fruit contains 40% more juice than standard limes.
• Self-pollinating flowers mean you only need one tree for fruit production, making it perfect for smaller Australian gardens.

• Water deeply once weekly during growing season, twice weekly in extreme heat, checking soil moisture 5cm down before watering. Reduce to fortnightly in winter.
• Position in full sun location receiving 6-8 hours direct sunlight daily for optimal fruit production. Protect from strong winds and frost.
• Plant in well-draining, slightly acidic soil with pH 6.0-7.0, adding compost and aged manure before planting. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
• Feed with citrus fertiliser every 6-8 weeks from September to March, supplementing with liquid seaweed monthly during growing season.
• Prune lightly after harvest to maintain shape and remove dead wood, avoiding heavy pruning which reduces fruit production.
• Maintain soil moisture during flowering and fruiting periods, mulching around base to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature.
