Magnolia Little Gem

• Little Gem is a compact cultivar of the Southern Magnolia, bred specifically for smaller spaces and container growing. It maintains the classic magnolia beauty in a manageable size.
• Native to southeastern United States but perfectly adapted to Australian temperate and subtropical climates. Thrives in zones with mild winters and warm summers.
• Produces glossy, dark green leaves with distinctive bronze undersides that create beautiful contrast. The evergreen foliage provides year-round structure and privacy screening.
• Beloved for its ability to flower almost continuously, with peak blooms in spring and autumn followed by sporadic flowering throughout the year.

• Water 2-3 times weekly in summer, reducing to weekly in winter. Check soil moisture 5cm deep and water when slightly dry.
• Position in morning sun with afternoon shade, or dappled light throughout the day. Protect from harsh western sun in hot climates.
• Plant in well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil enriched with compost. Mulch around the base to retain moisture and regulate temperature.
• Feed with slow-release fertiliser in spring and mid-summer. Supplement with liquid fertiliser monthly during growing season for container plants.
• Prune lightly after main flowering flush to maintain shape. Remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches any time of year.
• Maintain humidity around container plants by grouping with other plants or using pebble trays during dry periods.

• Provide morning sun with afternoon shade protection, especially in hot Australian climates. Full sun is tolerated in cooler regions with adequate moisture.
• Water deeply but infrequently, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings. Increase frequency during hot summer months and flowering periods.
