Pachypodium Lameri Multi Head (Madagascar Palm)

• Native to southern Madagascar, Pachypodium Lameri grows as a small tree in its natural habitat. The multi-head variety has been cultivated to produce multiple crowns, creating a more dramatic display than single-stemmed specimens.
• The swollen trunk acts as water storage, making it exceptionally drought-tolerant. Sharp spines cover the trunk as a natural defence mechanism. Despite the name, it's a succulent, not a true palm.
• Produces beautiful white fragrant flowers with yellow centres when mature and given proper care. Flowering typically occurs in spring and summer. Not all specimens will flower indoors.
• Loved for its architectural form and low-maintenance nature. Perfect for modern, minimalist, and tropical-themed spaces. The unique silhouette creates instant visual interest wherever it's placed.

• Water only when soil is bone dry, typically every 10-14 days in summer and monthly in winter. Check moisture levels deep in the pot before watering. Err on the side of underwatering.
• Position in the brightest spot available with direct sun for most of the day. Indoor plants benefit from outdoor summer holidays in full sun. Gradually acclimate to prevent sunburn.
• Plant in a very free-draining cactus and succulent mix with added grit. Ensure pots have drainage holes as sitting water is fatal. Terracotta pots are ideal for moisture control.
• Feed with half-strength liquid succulent fertiliser monthly during spring and summer only. Cease all feeding in autumn and winter during dormancy. Over-fertilising causes weak, elongated growth.
• Minimal pruning required; remove only dead or damaged leaves. Wear thick gloves when handling as spines are very sharp and sap is toxic. Clean cuts heal better than tears.
• Tolerates low humidity perfectly, making it ideal for Australian homes with air conditioning. No misting required. Avoid placing near humid bathrooms or kitchens.
• Expect leaf drop in winter as the plant enters dormancy. This is completely normal. Reduce watering dramatically and stop fertilising until new growth appears in spring.

• Provide bright, direct sunlight for at least 6 hours daily for best growth and compact form. Can tolerate partial shade but may become leggy. South-facing positions work brilliantly in Australian homes.
• Water sparingly, only when soil is completely dry throughout. During summer, water every 10-14 days; in winter, reduce to monthly or less. Less is always more with this succulent.
• Use a very well-draining cactus and succulent mix with added perlite or pumice. Heavy soils will cause root rot. Terracotta pots help wick away excess moisture.
• Fertilise monthly during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted succulent fertiliser. Stop feeding in autumn and winter when the plant becomes dormant.
• Maintain temperatures above 10°C as this tropical species is frost-sensitive. Bring indoors or provide protection during cold Australian winter nights in southern regions.

• Overwatering is the most common issue, causing root rot and trunk softening. Allow soil to dry completely between waterings and ensure excellent drainage. Yellow leaves often indicate too much water.
• Mealybugs and spider mites can occasionally appear on the foliage. Wipe leaves with diluted neem oil or insecticidal soap. Check regularly between leaf rosettes where pests hide.
• Leaf drop is normal during dormancy in cooler months. This is not a disease but a natural response to lower light and temperatures. Reduce watering during this period.
• Sunburn can occur if moved suddenly from shade to full sun. Gradually acclimate the plant over 2-3 weeks to prevent scorched leaves.
