Peach J H Hale

• Originally developed in Connecticut, USA in the early 1900s by J.H. Hale, this variety became renowned for producing some of the largest peaches available. It quickly gained popularity in commercial orchards worldwide.
• The tree produces magnificent pink blossoms in early spring before leafing out, creating stunning ornamental value. Fruit ripens in mid to late summer with exceptional size and flavour.
• J H Hale peaches are freestone variety, meaning the flesh separates easily from the pit when ripe. This makes them perfect for fresh eating, preserving, and cooking applications.
• Known for its reliable cropping ability and disease resistance compared to many other peach varieties. The tree typically reaches 4-6 metres at maturity in Australian conditions.

• Water deeply once or twice weekly during growing season, reducing in winter - check soil moisture 5cm down before watering. Increase watering frequency during fruit development and hot weather.
• Position in full sun location with at least 6 hours direct sunlight daily for best fruit production. Protect from strong winds that can damage branches.
• Plant in well-draining soil enriched with compost and aged manure - pH between 6.0-7.0 is ideal. Avoid heavy clay or waterlogged positions.
• Feed with balanced fertiliser in early spring and liquid fertiliser monthly during growing season. Apply potassium-rich fertiliser after harvest to support next year's crop.
• Prune in late winter to maintain open vase shape, removing 20-30% of previous year's growth. Thin fruit to 15cm apart when marble-sized for larger, better quality peaches.
• Mulch around base with organic matter to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Keep mulch away from trunk to prevent collar rot issues.

• Plant in full sun location with well-draining soil enriched with compost for optimal fruit production. Avoid waterlogged or heavy clay soils that can cause root problems.
